The Works from the Museo dei Bozzetti in Pietrasanta
The collection of the Museo dei Bozzetti in Pietrasanta, housed in the San Agostino complex and consisting of over a thousand pieces, is unique in its kind. It stands out for the diversity of internationally renowned sculptors it represents, and for its aim to convey sculpture as the result of a process that begins with the artist’s idea, continues with the selection of materials and the craftsmanship of local artisans, and culminates in the final placement of the work in public or private spaces around the world. The Museum’s mission is to highlight Pietrasanta’s special role in the world of sculpture and to emphasize the importance of the sketch in the "material" history of art, offering a journey to the origin of creative ideas—rich in revelations about the artistic process.
This exhibition at the Mostra d’Art a Palafrugell – map25 is an opportunity for reunion, the exchange of ideas, and forward-looking reflection.
The sketches by Matti Kalevi Auvinen, Alberto Cortina, Heppe de Haan, Niki de Saint Phalle, and Margot Homan, selected for MAP, represent the concept of sculpture shaped by the artist before its final realization in marble or bronze.
Alongside the exhibited sketches are new and evocative visions captured by Luca Forno, who, through his lens, has photographed the unique nature of certain “plaster models” from the Pietrasanta Museum collection.
Luca Forno works in black and white—a medium in which he excels—bringing to life a duality composed of delicate, subtle nuances. His photographs invite careful observation: every detail stirs emotion, sparks reflection, revives dormant memories, and evokes the complex present of humanity.
